Overview

The Pier Restaurant, nestled on Hope Island's scenic marina at 11 John Lund Drive, is a fine representation of modern Australian dining with a compelling focus on fresh, quality ingredients and a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. This waterfront spot captures the essence of coastal Queensland living, making it an ideal destination for those seeking both a memorable meal and a serene setting.

Known for its skillful blend of classic and contemporary flavors, The Pier Restaurant offers standout dishes like the Gluten Free Lamb Shank and expertly cooked steaks. Proteins are thoughtfully paired with seasonal vegetables and carefully prepared sides, highlighting the kitchen’s dedication to balanced, flavorful plates. The menu also features a variety of enticing starters such as an Oyster Trio presented in three distinct styles—Natural, Kilpatrick, and Mornay—alongside elegant options like smoked duck breast with kohlrabi salad, demonstrating culinary finesse and an eye for texture contrast.

The mains reflect a harmonious blend of cultures, with dishes like Emperor Pork Belly braised in Asian spices and served on jasmine rice, and a Chicken Parmigiana that is generously filled with smoked ham and local cheddar. Seafood lovers will appreciate the Spaghetti Seafood Marina, a dish enlivened by fresh shellfish and a subtle chardonnay-infused sauce, echoing the restaurant’s marina setting with every bite.

The dining experience at The Pier is enhanced by an open, airy space that overlooks the sparkling marina, delivering stunning views that complement the cuisine. Guests have noted the friendly and attentive service, although during peak times the bustling environment can test the team’s capacity, which speaks to the restaurant's popularity. Particularly worth mentioning is the vibrant seafood buffet offered on Fridays and Saturdays, an indulgent option that draws crowds looking for a hearty and satisfying feast.

The venue caters well to a diverse clientele—from couples enjoying a romantic lunch with a waterfront panorama to families and friends gathering for a laid-back weekend meal. Its blend of approachable dishes with modern twists and a well-curated wine and drinks selection aligns perfectly with those who appreciate contemporary Australian cuisine in a refined yet informal setting.

Whether you are drawn by the promise of the succulent lamb shank, the bounty of fresh seafood, or simply the atmosphere of a peaceful marina locale, The Pier Restaurant delivers a dining experience that feels both special and comfortably grounded in the flavors of the region.

This place is busy and the staff under pressure. Food was lovely but could have been hotter. Drinks took rather too long to arrive. The staff are doing their best but they need an extra pair of hands

I live just down the road and have eaten here a few times now. Food is always great and their service has always been great as well. It's very reasonably priced considering the portions you get and good quality of the food.

Loved the buffet, lovely service, everything was perfect. Nice and chill environment, really relaxing. Yumcha was authentic, plus they had salad, fresh fruit, cakes, coffee, and yogurt. All for $23 — I’ll be back for sure!

Visited for the Wednesday night special seafood platter for 2 ($99). Strange setup with the bar on one side of the courtyard and eatery/breakfast bar on the other. The eatery area certainly lacked atmosphere and echoed with its tiled floor and plain walls, so we are outside in front of the boats - far nicer setting. The seafood platter was excellent. Beer was reasonable, though choices of ales was limited to just a Monteith's black ale.
